حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدٌ عَنْ أَنَسٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَعْمَلُ الْبُرْهَةَ مِنْ عُمُرِهِ بِالْعَمَلِ الَّذِي لَوْ مَاتَ عَلَيْهِ دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ فَإِذَا كَانَ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ تَحَوَّلَ فَعَمِلَ عَمَلَ أَهْلِ النَّارِ فَمَاتَ فَدَخَلَ النَّارَ وَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَعْمَلُ الْبُرْهَةَ مِنْ عُمُرِهِ بِالْعَمَلِ الَّذِي لَوْ مَاتَ عَلَيْهِ دَخَلَ النَّارَ فَإِذَا كَانَ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ تَحَوَّلَ فَعَمِلَ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ فَمَاتَ فَدَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ.
English Translation
Affan told us: Hammad told us: Humayd informed us, from Anas, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed a man may do, for a stretch of his life, the deeds that, were he to die upon them, he would enter Paradise; then, before his death, he changes and does the deeds of the people of the Fire, so he dies and enters the Fire. And indeed a man may do, for a stretch of his life, the deeds that, were he to die upon them, he would enter the Fire; then, before his death, he changes and does the deeds of the people of Paradise, so he dies and enters Paradise."
