حَدَّثَنَا كَثِيرُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرٌ حَدَّثَنَا عِمْرَانُ الْبَصْرِيُّ الْقَصِيرُ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ خَدَمْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَشْرَ سِنِينَ فَمَا أَمَرَنِي بِأَمْرٍ فَتَوَانَيْتُ عَنْهُ أَوْ ضَيَّعْتُهُ فَلَامَنِي فَإِنْ لَامَنِي أَحَدٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ إِلَّا قَالَ دَعُوهُ فَلَوْ قُدِّرَ أَوْ قَالَ لَوْ قُضِيَ أَنْ يَكُونَ كَانَ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بنُ ثَابِتٍ حَدَّثَنِي جَعْفَرُ بْنُ بُرْقَانَ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ الْبَصْرِيِّ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ خَدَمْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَشْرَ سِنِينَ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ.
English Translation
‘Ali ibn Thabit told us, Ja’far ibn Burqan told me, from ‘Imran al-Basri, from Anas ibn Malik, who said: "I served the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, for ten years. He never commanded me to do something that I neglected or failed at, but if he blamed me - and if anyone of his household blamed me for it - he would say, ‘Leave him be; if it was decreed’" - or he said, "‘if it was destined to be, it would be.’" Kathir ibn Hisham also told us, Ja’far told us, ‘Imran al-Basri al-Qasir told us, from Anas ibn Malik, who said: "I served the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, for ten years," and he related something similar.
