حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي يَزِيدَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مُوسَى بْنَ أَنَسٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ الْأَنْصَارَ اشْتَدَّتْ عَلَيْهِمْ السَّوَانِي فَأَتَوْا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِيَدْعُوَ لَهُمْ أَوْ يَحْفِرَ لَهُمْ نَهْرًا فَأُخْبِرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِذَلِكَ فَقَالَ لَا يَسْأَلُونِي الْيَوْمَ شَيْئًا إِلَّا أُعْطُوهُ فَأُخْبِرَتْ الْأَنْصَارُ بِذَلِكَ فَلَمَّا سَمِعُوا مَا قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالُوا ادْعُ اللَّهَ لَنَا بِالْمَغْفِرَةِ فَقَالَ اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِلْأَنْصَارِ وَلِأَبْنَاءِ الْأَنْصَارِ وَلِأَبْنَاءِ أَبْنَاءِ الْأَنْصَارِ.
English Translation
Abd al-Samad told us: Abdullah ibn Abi Yazid told us: I heard Musa ibn Anas narrate from his father that the irrigation buckets became burdensome for the Ansar, so they came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, so that he might supplicate for them or dig a river for them. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was informed of this and said: They will not ask me for anything today but that they be given it. So the Ansar were informed of that, and when they heard what the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, had said, they said: Supplicate to Allah for us for forgiveness. So he said: O Allah, forgive the Ansar, and the children of the Ansar, and the children of the children of the Ansar.
