حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ الطَّوِيلُ وَابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ الطَّوِيلِ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ فَرَأَى حَبْلًا مَمْدُودًا بَيْنَ سَارِيَتَيْنِ قَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَسَأَلَ عَنْهُ فَقَالُوا فُلَانَةُ تُصَلِّي فَإِذَا غُلِبَتْ تَعَلَّقَتْ بِهِ فَقَالَ لِتُصَلِّ مَا عَقَلَتْ فَإِذَا غُلِبَتْ فَلْتَنَمْ.
English Translation
Mu'adh ibn Mu'adh told us, Humayd al-Tawil and Ibn Abi Adi told us — from Humayd al-Tawil — from Anas ibn Malik, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, entered the mosque and saw a rope stretched between two pillars — Ibn Abi Adi said: in the mosque — so he asked about it, and they said: So-and-so prays, and when she becomes tired she holds on to it. He said: Let her pray as long as she is alert, and when she becomes tired let her sleep.
