English Translation
Waki' told us, al-A'mash told us, from Sahl Abu al-Asad, from Bukayr al-Jazari, from Anas, who said: We were in the house of a man of the Ansar when the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, came and stood, holding the doorpost, and said, "The leaders are from Quraysh; they have a right over you and you have the like of it over them: as long as, when asked for mercy, they show mercy; when they judge, they judge justly; and when they make a covenant, they fulfill it. Whoever among them does not do that, upon him be the curse of God, the angels, and all the people."
