English Translation
Yahya told us, he said: at-Taymi told us, from Anas, who said: I was standing over the household, giving them drink from raw pressed date juice, when a man came and said, "Wine has been forbidden." They said, "Pour it out, O Anas," so I poured it out. I said, "What was their drink?" He said, "Unripe and ripe dates" — and Abu Bakr ibn Anas said, "That was their wine in those days," while Anas was listening and did not object to it. And some who were with us said: Anas himself said, "That was their wine in those days."
