حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَا تُوَاصِلُوا قَالُوا إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ لَسْتُمْ فِي ذَلِكَ مِثْلِي إِنِّي أَظَلُّ أَوْ قَالَ أَبِيتُ أُطْعَمُ وَأُسْقَى.
English Translation
Bahz told us: Shu'bah told us, from Qatadah, from Anas ibn Malik, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Do not fast continuously without breaking your fast." They said, "But you fast continuously." He said, "You are not like me in that; I spend the day" — or he said "the night" — "being fed and given drink."
