حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ وَهَاشِمٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَتَّابٍ وَقَالَ هَاشِمٌ مَوْلَى بَنِي هُرْمُزَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَقُولُ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَخْشَى أَنْ أُخْطِئَ لَحَدَّثْتُكُمْ بِأَشْيَاءَ سَمِعْتُهَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَكِنَّهُ قَالَ مَنْ كَذَبَ عَلَيَّ مُتَعَمِّدًا فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ مَقْعَدَهُ مِنْ النَّارِ قَالَ هَاشِمٌ قَالَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَوْ سَمِعْتُهَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
English Translation
Hajjaj told us: Shu'bah and Hashim informed us — Hashim said: Shu'bah told us, from 'Attab, and Hashim said the freedman of Banu Hurmuz — who said: I heard Anas ibn Malik say: Were it not that I fear to err, I would have told you many things I heard from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, but he said, "Whoever lies about me deliberately, let him take his seat in the Fire." Hashim said: (I am not certain whether Anas said) the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said it, or I heard it from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.
