English Translation
Muhammad ibn Ja'far and Hajjaj told us, they said: Shu'bah told us, from Hisham ibn Zayd, from Anas ibn Malik, who said: We were passing by and we startled a hare at Marr al-Zahran. They ran after it but grew tired, so I ran until I caught up with it and caught it, and I brought it to Abu Talha, who slaughtered it and sent its haunch or its thigh to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and he accepted it. Hajjaj said: I said to Shu'bah, "Did he say he ate it?" He said, "Yes, he ate it." Then he said to me afterward, "He accepted it."
