English Translation
Abd al-Razzaq told us, Ma'mar told us, from Thabit al-Bunani, from Anas, that a man from the people of the desert named Zahir used to bring gifts to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, from the desert, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, would equip him whenever he wanted to leave. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Zahir is our man of the desert, and we are his settled folk." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, loved him, though he was an unattractive man. One day the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, came to him while he was selling his goods, and embraced him from behind while he could not see him. The man said: "Let me go! Who is this?" Then he turned and recognized the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and he began to press his back against the chest of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, once he recognized him, doing all he could. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, began to say: "Who will buy this slave?" The man said: "O Messenger of Allah, then by Allah you will find me unsellable." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "But with Allah you are not unsellable" -- or he said -- "but with Allah you are precious."
