حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ وَعَفَّانُ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدٌ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ أَنَسٍ قَالَ عَفَّانُ فِي حَدِيثِهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَقَدْ تَرَكْتُمْ بِالْمَدِينَةِ رِجَالًا مَا سِرْتُمْ مِنْ مَسِيرٍ وَلَا أَنْفَقْتُمْ مِنْ نَفَقَةٍ وَلَا قَطَعْتُمْ مِنْ وَادٍ إِلَّا وَهُمْ مَعَكُمْ فِيهِ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَكَيْفَ يَكُونُونَ مَعَنَا وَهُمْ بِالْمَدِينَةِ قَالَ حَبَسَهُمْ الْعُذْرُ.
English Translation
Abu Kamil and Affan told us, they said, Hammad told us, Humayd informed us, from Musa ibn Anas - Affan said in his account: Humayd told us, from Musa ibn Anas ibn Malik, from his father, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "You have left behind in Medina men such that you did not travel any journey, nor spend any expenditure, nor cross any valley, but they were with you in it." They said, "O Messenger of Allah, how can they be with us while they are in Medina?" He said, "An excuse held them back."
