حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ وَمُؤَمَّلٌ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ وَثَابِتٍ الْبُنَانِيِّ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ غَلَا السِّعْرُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَوْ سَعَّرْتَ فَقَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الْخَالِقُ الْقَابِضُ الْبَاسِطُ الرَّازِقُ الْمُسَعِّرُ وَإِنِّي لَأَرْجُو أَنْ أَلْقَى اللَّهَ وَلَا يَطْلُبُنِي أَحَدٌ بِمَظْلَمَةٍ ظَلَمْتُهَا إِيَّاهُ فِي دَمٍ وَلَا مَالٍ.
English Translation
Surayj and Mu'ammal told us, they said, Hammad ibn Salamah told us, from Qatadah and Thabit al-Bunani, from Anas ibn Malik, who said: Prices rose sharply in the time of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, so they said, "O Messenger of Allah, if only you would fix the prices." He said, "Indeed Allah is the Creator, the Withholder, the Extender, the Provider, the Fixer of Prices, and I truly hope that I may meet Allah with no one making a claim against me for a wrong I have done to him regarding blood or property."
