حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْدَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ غَدًا أَقْوَامٌ هُمْ أَرَقُّ قُلُوبًا لِلْإِسْلَامِ مِنْكُمْ قَالَ فَقَدِمَ الْأَشْعَرِيُّونَ فِيهِمْ أَبُو مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيُّ فَلَمَّا دَنَوْا مِنْ الْمَدِينَةِ جَعَلُوا يَرْتَجِزُونَ يَقُولُونَ غَدًا نَلْقَى الْأَحِبَّهْ مُحَمَّدًا وَحِزْبَهْ فَلَمَّا أَنْ قَدِمُوا تَصَافَحُوا فَكَانُوا هُمْ أَوَّلَ مَنْ أَحْدَثَ الْمُصَافَحَةَ.
English Translation
Yahya ibn Ishaq told us, he said, Yahya ibn Ayyub told us, from Humayd, who said: I heard Anas ibn Malik say: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Tomorrow there will come to you a people whose hearts are more tender toward Islam than yours." He said: Then the Ash'aris arrived, among them Abu Musa al-Ash'ari. When they drew near Medina, they began to chant, saying, "Tomorrow we shall meet our loved ones, Muhammad and his party." When they arrived, they shook hands with one another, and they were the first to introduce the handshake.
