حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ عَنِ الْمُخْتَارِ بْنِ فُلْفُلٍ أَنَّ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ حَدَّثَهُمْ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنِّي لَكُمْ إِمَامٌ فَلَا تَسْبِقُونِي بِالرُّكُوعِ وَلَا بِالسُّجُودِ وَلَا بِالْقِيَامِ فَإِنِّي أَرَاكُمْ مِنْ أَمَامِي وَمِنْ خَلْفِي وَايْمُ الَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ لَوْ رَأَيْتُمْ مَا رَأَيْتُ لَضَحِكْتُمْ قَلِيلًا وَلَبَكَيْتُمْ كَثِيرًا قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا رَأَيْتَ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ الْجَنَّةَ وَالنَّارَ.
English Translation
Aswad ibn Amir told us, Zuhayr told us, from al-Mukhtar ibn Fulful, that Anas ibn Malik told them: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "I am indeed your leader in prayer, so do not precede me in bowing, nor in prostrating, nor in standing, for I see you from in front of me and from behind me. And by Him in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, if you knew what I know, you would laugh little and weep much." They said, "O Messenger of Allah, what have you seen?" He said, "I have seen Paradise and the Fire."
