حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ كُنْتُ أَسْمَعُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ فَلَا أَدْرِي أَشَيْءٌ نَزَلَ عَلَيْهِ أَمْ شَيْءٌ يَقُولُهُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ لَوْ كَانَ لِابْنِ آدَمَ وَادِيَانِ مِنْ مَالٍ لَابْتَغَى لَهُمَا ثَالِثًا وَلَا يَمْلَأُ جَوْفَ ابْنِ آدَمَ إِلَّا التُّرَابُ وَيَتُوبُ اللَّهُ عَلَى مَنْ تَابَ.
English Translation
Anas said: I used to hear the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) saying - and I did not know whether it was something revealed to him or something he was saying on his own - he would say: "If the son of Adam had two valleys of wealth, he would seek a third, and nothing fills the belly of the son of Adam except dust. And Allah accepts the repentance of whoever repents."
