حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي التَّيَّاحِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَقُولُ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُخَالِطُنَا حَتَّى يَقُولَ لِأَخٍ لِي صَغِيرٍ يَا أَبَا عُمَيْرٍ مَا فَعَلَ النُّغَيْرُ طَائِرٌ كَانَ يَلْعَبُ بِهِ قَالَ وَنُضِحَ بِسَاطٌ لَنَا قَالَ فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ وَصَفَّنَا خَلْفَهُ.
English Translation
Anas ibn Malik said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to be so familiar with us that he would say to a young brother of mine: "O Abu Umair, what happened to the Nughair (a small bird)?" - a bird he used to play with. He said: A mat of ours was sprinkled with water, and he prayed on it and we lined up behind him.
