English Translation
Isma'il ibn Umar Abu al-Mundhir narrated to us, Dawud ibn Qays al-Farra' narrated to us, Iyad ibn Abdullah ibn Sa'd ibn Abi Sarh narrated to us, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, who said: When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, went out on the day of Eid al-Fitr, he would lead the people in those two rak'ahs, then give the salutation and stand, facing the people while they were seated, and say: "Give charity," three times. The women were the most numerous in giving charity — with earrings, rings, and other things. And if the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, had a need to send the people on a military expedition, he would mention it to them; otherwise he would leave.
