حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُدْعَى نُوحٌ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَيُقَالُ لَهُ هَلْ بَلَّغْتَ فَيَقُولُ نَعَمْ فَيُدْعَى قَوْمُهُ فَيُقَالُ لَهُمْ هَلْ بَلَّغَكُمْ فَيَقُولُونَ مَا أَتَانَا مِنْ نَذِيرٍ أَوْ مَا أَتَانَا مِنْ أَحَدٍ قَالَ فَيُقَالُ لِنُوحٍ مَنْ يَشْهَدُ لَكَ فَيَقُولُ مُحَمَّدٌ وَأُمَّتُهُ قَالَ فَذَلِكَ قَوْلُهُ { وَكَذَلِكَ جَعَلْنَاكُمْ أُمَّةً وَسَطًا } قَالَ الْوَسَطُ الْعَدْلُ قَالَ فَيُدْعَوْنَ فَيَشْهَدُونَ لَهُ بِالْبَلَاغِ قَالَ ثُمَّ أَشْهَدُ عَلَيْكُمْ.
English Translation
Waki' told us, from al-A'mash, from Abu Salih, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Noah, peace be upon him, will be called on the Day of Resurrection, and it will be said to him, 'Did you convey the message?' He will say, 'Yes.' Then his people will be called and it will be said to them, 'Did he convey it to you?' They will say, 'No warner came to us,' or 'No one came to us.'" He said: "Then it will be said to Noah, 'Who will testify for you?' He will say, 'Muhammad and his nation.'" He said: "That is the meaning of His saying, {Thus We have made you a middle nation}." He said: "The middle means the just." He said: "So they will be called and will testify for him that he conveyed the message." He said: "Then I will testify against you."
