حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ وَأَبُو عَامَرٍ قَالَا أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ عَنِ عَجْلَانَ مَوْلَى الْمُشْمَعِلِّ وَقَالَ أَبُو عَامَرٍ مَوْلَى حَكِيمٍ وَقَالَ أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ مَوْلَى حَمَاسٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا تَسَابَّ وَأَنْتَ صَائِمٌ فَإِنْ شَتَمَكَ أَحَدٌ فَقُلْ إِنِّي صَائِمٌ وَإِنْ كُنْتَ قَائِمًا فَاقْعُدْ وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ لَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ.
English Translation
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Do not exchange insults while you are fasting. If someone insults you, say: I am fasting. If you are standing, sit down. By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, the breath of the fasting person is more pleasant to Allah than the scent of musk.'
