English Translation
Muhammad b. Abdullah b. al-Zubayr told us: Sufyan told us, from Abu al-Zinad, from al-A'raj, from Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: "None of you should say: 'O Allah, forgive me if You will,' or 'O Allah, have mercy on me if You will'; let him be resolute in his request, for none can compel Him." Abdullah said: Thus it was in my father's book, with one word unclear: "And surplus water should not be withheld in order to withhold surplus pasturage by it."
