English Translation
Hushaym told us: 'Awf informed us, from a man who narrated to him, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The protected zone of a well is forty cubits around it, all of it for the watering of camels and sheep, and the wayfarer is the first to drink; and surplus water must not be withheld in order to withhold pasture by means of it."
