English Translation
Shurayh ibn Hani' reported: Hani' ibn Yazid, when he came as a delegate to the Prophet (peace be upon him) with his people, the Prophet heard them calling him Abu al-Hakam. He called him and said: 'Allah is the Judge, and to Him belongs judgment. Why are you called Abu al-Hakam?' He said: When my people disagree about something, they come to me and I judge between them, and both parties are pleased. He said: 'How excellent this is!' Then he asked: 'Do you have children?' He said: I have Shurayh, Abdullah, and Muslim. He asked: 'Who is the eldest?' He said: Shurayh. He said: 'Then you are Abu Shurayh.' And he supplicated for him and his children. The Prophet also heard people calling a man 'Abd al-Hajar (servant of the stone). He said: 'What is your name?' He said: 'Abd al-Hajar. He said: 'No, you are Abdullah.' Shurayh said: When Hani' was about to return home, he came to the Prophet and said: Tell me what deed will guarantee Paradise. He said: 'You must speak good words and feed people.'
