Rifa'ah ibn Rafi' reported that the Prophet, peace be upon him, told Umar, may Allah be pleased with him: 'Gather your people for me.' So he gathered them. When they were at the door of the Prophet, Umar entered and said, 'I have gathered my people for you.' The Ansar heard this and said, 'Revelation has come down about the Quraysh.' Those who were listening came to see what would be said to them. The Prophet, peace be upon him, came out and stood among them and said, 'Are there any among you who are not of your people?' They said, 'Yes, our allies, our nephews, and our freed slaves.' The Prophet said, 'Our ally is one of us, our nephew is one of us, and our freed slave is one of us. And you hear: my allies among you are the God-fearing. If you are such people, then so be it. But if not, then beware lest people come with good deeds on the Day of Judgment while you come bearing heavy burdens, and you are turned away.' Then he called out, 'O people!' — raising his hands and placing them on the heads of the Quraysh — 'O people! The Quraysh are people of trust. Whoever seeks to harm them' — Zuhayr said: I think he said: 'the wrongdoers' — 'Allah will throw him on his face.' He said this three times.
