Arabic (Original)
427/549 عن ابن عمر، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال:"من تعظم في نفسه، أو اختال في مشيته، لقي الله عز وجل وهو عليه غضبان".
English Translation
Abu Hurayrah reported from the Prophet, peace be upon him, who said, 'A man visited a brother of his in another town, and Allah sent an angel on his way. When the angel met him, he said, "Where are you going?" He said, "I am going to visit a brother of mine in this town." He said, "Have you done him some favor that you wish to cultivate?" He said, "No, but I love him for the sake of Allah, Mighty and Majestic." He said, "I am a messenger of Allah to you — that Allah loves you as you have loved him for His sake."'
Urdu Translation
سیدنا عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے وہ نبیصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے روایت کرتے ہیں کہ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا:”جس نے اپنی ذات کو بڑا سمجھا یا اپنی چال میں تکبر اختیار کی وہ اللہ عزوجل سے اس حال میں ملے گا کہ وہ اس پر غضبناک ہو گا۔“[صحيح الادب المفرد/حدیث: 427]
