قَالَ: وَوُلِدَ لِفُلاَنٍ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ غُلامٌ، فَسَمَّاهُ مُحَمَّدًا، فَقَالَتِ الأنْصَارُ: لا نُكَنِّيكَ بِرَسُولِ اللهِ. حَتَّى قَعَدْنَا فِي الطَّرِيقِ نَسْأَلُهُ عَنِ السَّاعَةِ، فَقَالَ: جِئْتُمُونِي تَسْأَلُونِي عَنِ السَّاعَةِ؟ قُلْنَا: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: مَا مِنْ نَفْسٍ مَنْفُوسَةٍ، يَأْتِي عَلَيْهَا مِئَةُ سَنَةٍ، قُلْنَا: وُلِدَ لِفُلاَنٍ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ غُلاَمٌ فَسَمَّاهُ مُحَمَّدًا، فَقَالَتِ الأنْصَارُ: لا نُكَنِّيكَ بِرَسُولِ اللهِ، قَالَ: أَحْسَنَت�� الأَنْصَارُ، سَمُّوا بِاسْمِي، ولا تَكْتَنُوا بِكُنْيَتِي.
English Translation
He also said, "One of the slaves of the Ansar had a son whom he named Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), The Ansar said, 'We will not give you the kunya of the Beloved Messenger of Allah until we have sat in the road and asked the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) about the Final Hour.' The Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated, 'You have come to me to ask me about the Hour?' 'Yes,' we replied. He said, 'There is no one alive now who will see it, even if he lives a hundred years.' We said, 'A slave of the Ansar has had a son and named him Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). The Ansar said, "We will not call you by the kunya of the Beloved Messenger of Allah."' The Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated, 'You have done well. Call yourselves with my name, but do not use my kunya.'"
Urdu Translation
حضرت جابر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ فرماتے ہیں: انصار کے ایک غلام کے ہاں بیٹا پیدا ہوا اور اس نے اس کا نام محمد رکھا۔ انصار نے کہا: جب تک ہم راستے میں بیٹھ کر آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے قیامت کے بارے میں نہ پوچھ لیں تب تک ہم تجھے رسول اللہ کی کنیت نہ دیں گے۔ آپ نے ارشاد فرمایا: تم میرے پاس قیامت کے بارے میں پوچھنے آئے ہو؟ یہ تب قائم ہوگی جب لوگ ایک ایک کر کے فنا ہوتے جائیں گے۔ پھر فرمایا: میرے نام پر نام رکھو لیکن میری کنیت نہ رکھو۔
