حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ خَلَفٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الأَعْلَى، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ، - يَعْنِي ابْنَ إِسْحَاقَ - عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ الزُّرَقِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، صَاحِبِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ نَنْتَظِرُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم لِلصَّلاَةِ فِي الظُّهْرِ أَوِ الْعَصْرِ وَقَدْ دَعَاهُ بِلاَلٌ لِلصَّلاَةِ إِذْ خَرَجَ إِلَيْنَا وَأُمَامَةُ بِنْتُ أَبِي الْعَاصِ بِنْتُ ابْنَتِهِ عَلَى عُنُقِهِ فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي مُصَلاَّهُ وَقُمْنَا خَلْفَهُ وَهِيَ فِي مَكَانِهَا الَّذِي هِيَ فِيهِ قَالَ فَكَبَّرَ فَكَبَّرْنَا قَالَ حَتَّى إِذَا أَرَادَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنْ يَرْكَعَ أَخَذَهَا فَوَضَعَهَا ثُمَّ رَكَعَ وَسَجَدَ حَتَّى إِذَا فَرَغَ مِنْ سُجُودِهِ ثُمَّ قَامَ أَخَذَهَا فَرَدَّهَا فِي مَكَانِهَا فَمَا زَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَصْنَعُ بِهَا ذَلِكَ فِي كُلِّ رَكْعَةٍ حَتَّى فَرَغَ مِنْ صَلاَتِهِ .
English Translation
Hadrat Abu Qatadah — a Companion of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) (may Allah be well pleased with him) — narrates: 'We were waiting for the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) for the Zuhr or Asr prayer, and Hadrat Bilal had called (the adhan) for the prayer. Then he (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) came out to us with Umamah bint Abi al-'As — his granddaughter — on his blessed neck. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stood at his place of prayer and we stood behind him, while she was in her place (on his neck). He said: He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said the takbir, so we said the takbir. He said: When the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) wanted to bow, he took her and put her down, then bowed and prostrated. When he finished the prostration and stood up, he took her and placed her back in her spot. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) continued doing this in every rak'ah until he finished the prayer.'
Urdu Translation
حضرت ابوقتادہ — رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے صحابی (رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ) — فرماتے ہیں: ہم ظہر یا عصر کی نماز کے لیے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کا انتظار کر رہے تھے اور حضرت بلال نے نماز کے لیے پکارا تھا — اتنے میں آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم ہمارے پاس تشریف لائے اور اُمامہ بنتِ ابی العاص — آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی نواسی — آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی گردنِ مبارک پر تھیں۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم اپنی نماز کی جگہ کھڑے ہوئے اور ہم آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے پیچھے کھڑے ہو گئے — وہ اپنی جگہ پر تھیں۔ فرمایا: آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے تکبیر کہی تو ہم نے بھی تکبیر کہی — فرمایا: جب رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے رکوع کا ارادہ فرمایا تو انہیں اٹھا کر رکھا، پھر رکوع اور سجدہ فرمایا — جب سجدے سے فارغ ہو کر کھڑے ہوئے تو انہیں اٹھا کر واپس اپنی جگہ رکھ لیا۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم ہر رکعت میں ایسا ہی فرماتے رہے یہاں تک کہ نماز سے فارغ ہوئے۔
