Arabic (Original)
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ، حَدَّثَنَا سِمَاكٌ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ اغْتَسَلَ بَعْضُ أَزْوَاجِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي جَفْنَةٍ فَجَاءَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم لِيَتَوَضَّأَ مِنْهَا - أَوْ يَغْتَسِلَ - فَقَالَتْ لَهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي كُنْتُ جُنُبًا . فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " إِنَّ الْمَاءَ لاَ يَجْنُبُ " .
English Translation
Hadrat Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be well pleased with them both) narrates that one of the blessed wives of the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) bathed (due to ritual impurity) from a large basin. The Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) came to perform ablution or bathe from its remaining water. She said to him: 'O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), I was in a state of ritual impurity (and this is the remaining water from that bath).' The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: 'Water does not become impure.'
Urdu Translation
حضرت عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی ازواجِ مطہرات میں سے کسی نے ایک لگن میں غسلِ جنابت فرمایا۔ پھر نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم اس بچے ہوئے پانی سے وضو یا غسل کرنے تشریف لائے تو اُمّ المؤمنین نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! میں ناپاک تھی (اور یہ اسی غسل کا بچا ہوا پانی ہے)۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: پانی ناپاک نہیں ہوتا۔
