حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى، حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا حُصَيْنٌ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ بِتُّ لَيْلَةً عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَلَمَّا اسْتَيْقَظَ مِنْ مَنَامِهِ أَتَى طَهُورَهُ فَأَخَذَ سِوَاكَهُ فَاسْتَاكَ ثُمَّ تَلاَ هَذِهِ الآيَاتِ { إِنَّ فِي خَلْقِ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ وَاخْتِلاَفِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ لآيَاتٍ لأُولِي الأَلْبَابِ } حَتَّى قَارَبَ أَنْ يَخْتِمَ السُّورَةَ أَوْ خَتَمَهَا ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ فَأَتَى مُصَلاَّهُ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ إِلَى فِرَاشِهِ فَنَامَ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ ثُمَّ اسْتَيْقَظَ فَفَعَلَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ إِلَى فِرَاشِهِ فَنَامَ ثُمَّ اسْتَيْقَظَ فَفَعَلَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ إِلَى فِرَاشِهِ فَنَامَ ثُمَّ اسْتَيْقَظَ فَفَعَلَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ كُلُّ ذَلِكَ يَسْتَاكُ وَيُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ أَوْتَرَ . قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ رَوَاهُ ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ قَالَ فَتَسَوَّكَ وَتَوَضَّأَ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ { إِنَّ فِي خَلْقِ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ } حَتَّى خَتَمَ السُّورَةَ .
English Translation
Hadrat Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be well pleased with them both) narrates: I spent a night with the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). When he (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) awoke from sleep, he came to his ablution water, took his tooth-stick and used it. Then he (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) recited the verses: 'Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of night and day are signs for people of understanding' (Surah Aal Imran, 3:190) — until he nearly completed the surah, or completed it entirely. Then he (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) performed ablution, went to his prayer place and offered two rak'ahs. Then he returned to his blessed bed and slept as long as Allah willed. He then awoke and did the same. Then he returned to his bed and slept. He awoke again and did the same. He slept again and awoke and did the same. Every time, he (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) would use the tooth-stick and offer two rak'ahs, and finally he (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) performed the Witr prayer. Abu Dawud states: Ibn Fudayl narrated from Husayn that he (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) used the tooth-stick and performed ablution while reciting 'Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth...' until he completed the entire surah.
Urdu Translation
حضرت عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما فرماتے ہیں کہ میں نے ایک رات نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے ہاں قیام کیا۔ جب آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نیند سے بیدار ہوئے تو وضو کے پانی کے پاس تشریف لائے، مسواک لی اور مسواک فرمائی۔ پھر آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے یہ آیات تلاوت فرمائیں: «إِنَّ فِي خَلْقِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَاخْتِلَافِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ لَآيَاتٍ لِأُولِي الْأَلْبَابِ» (بے شک آسمانوں اور زمین کی تخلیق اور رات دن کے بدلنے میں عقل مندوں کے لیے نشانیاں ہیں) یہاں تک کہ سورت ختم ہونے کے قریب ہو گئی یا ختم ہو گئی۔ پھر آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے وضو فرمایا اور اپنی نماز پڑھنے کی جگہ تشریف لا کر دو رکعت نماز ادا فرمائی۔ پھر بسترِ مبارک پر واپس تشریف لائے اور جب تک اللہ نے چاہا آرام فرمایا۔ پھر بیدار ہوئے اور اسی طرح کیا۔ پھر بسترِ مبارک پر آرام فرمایا۔ پھر بیدار ہوئے اور اسی طرح کیا۔ پھر آرام فرمایا اور بیدار ہو کر پھر اسی طرح کیا۔ ہر بار آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم مسواک فرماتے اور دو رکعت نماز ادا فرماتے، پھر آخر میں وتر پڑھی۔ حضرت ابوداؤد فرماتے ہیں: ابن فضیل نے حصین سے یہ روایت کی ہے جس میں ہے: آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے مسواک فرمائی اور وضو کیا، اور اس دوران آپ «إِنَّ فِي خَلْقِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ» تلاوت فرما رہے تھے یہاں تک کہ پوری سورت مکمل فرمائی۔
