حَدَّثَنَا النُّفَيْلِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمَلِيحِ، حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ الأَصَمِّ، سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " لَقَدْ هَمَمْتُ أَنْ آمُرَ فِتْيَتِي فَيَجْمَعُوا حُزَمًا مِنْ حَطَبٍ ثُمَّ آتِيَ قَوْمًا يُصَلُّونَ فِي بُيُوتِهِمْ لَيْسَتْ بِهِمْ عِلَّةٌ فَأُحَرِّقُهَا عَلَيْهِمْ " . قُلْتُ لِيَزِيدَ بْنِ الأَصَمِّ يَا أَبَا عَوْفٍ الْجُمُعَةَ عَنَى أَوْ غَيْرَهَا قَالَ صُمَّتَا أُذُنَاىَ إِنْ لَمْ أَكُنْ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَأْثِرُهُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم مَا ذَكَرَ جُمُعَةً وَلاَ غَيْرَهَا .
English Translation
Hadrat Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrates that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: 'I considered ordering my young men to gather bundles of firewood, then going to the people who pray in their homes without any excuse and burning them (their houses) down.' (The narrator says:) I asked Yazid ibn al-Asamm: 'O Abu Awf, did he (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) mean the Jumu'ah (Friday) prayer or other prayers?' He said: 'May my ears go deaf if I did not hear Hadrat Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrating it from the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) — he (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) did not mention Jumu'ah specifically or any other prayer (i.e., he spoke in general terms).'
Urdu Translation
حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ فرماتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: میں نے ارادہ کیا کہ اپنے نوجوانوں کو حکم دوں کہ لکڑیوں کے گٹھے جمع کریں، پھر ان لوگوں کے پاس جاؤں جو اپنے گھروں میں نماز پڑھتے ہیں بغیر کسی عذر کے، اور ان (کے گھروں) کو جلا دوں۔ (راوی فرماتے ہیں:) میں نے یزید بن اصم سے پوچھا: اے ابوعوف! کیا آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے جمعہ کی نماز مراد لی یا کوئی اور؟ انہوں نے کہا: میرے کان بہرے ہو جائیں اگر میں نے حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے یہ نہ سنا ہو کہ وہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے بیان کر رہے تھے — آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے نہ جمعہ کا ذکر فرمایا نہ کسی اور نماز کا (یعنی عام طور پر فرمایا)۔
