حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُصَفَّى، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي فُدَيْكٍ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِي أَسِيدٍ الْبَرَّادِ، عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ خُبَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ خَرَجْنَا فِي لَيْلَةِ مَطَرٍ وَظُلْمَةٍ شَدِيدَةٍ نَطْلُبُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم لِيُصَلِّيَ لَنَا فَأَدْرَكْنَاهُ فَقَالَ " أَصَلَّيْتُمْ " . فَلَمْ أَقُلْ شَيْئًا فَقَالَ " قُلْ " . فَلَمْ أَقُلْ شَيْئًا ثُمَّ قَالَ " قُلْ " . فَلَمْ أَقُلْ شَيْئًا ثُمَّ قَالَ " قُلْ " . فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا أَقُولُ قَالَ " { قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ } وَالْمُعَوِّذَتَيْنِ حِينَ تُمْسِي وَحِينَ تُصْبِحُ ثَلاَثَ مَرَّاتٍ تَكْفِيكَ مِنْ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ " .
English Translation
Hadrat Mu'adh ibn Abdullah ibn Khubayb (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrates from his father that they went out on a rainy and very dark night seeking the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) so he could lead them in prayer. They found him and he said: 'Have you prayed?' I did not say anything. He said: 'Say.' I did not say anything. Then he said: 'Say.' I did not say anything. Then he said: 'Say.' I submitted: 'O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), what should I say?' He stated: 'Recite Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad (Surah al-Ikhlas) and the Mu'awwidhatayn (Surah al-Falaq and Surah al-Nas) three times each in the morning and evening; they will suffice you against everything.'
Urdu Translation
حضرت عبداللہ بن خبیب رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ اپنے والد سے روایت کرتے ہیں کہ ہم ایک بارش اور شدید اندھیری رات میں نکلے، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو تلاش کر رہے تھے تاکہ آپ ہمیں نماز پڑھائیں۔ ہم نے آپ کو پا لیا تو آپ نے فرمایا: نماز پڑھ لی؟ میں نے کچھ نہ کہا۔ فرمایا: کہو۔ میں نے کچھ نہ کہا۔ پھر فرمایا: کہو۔ میں نے کچھ نہ کہا۔ پھر فرمایا: کہو۔ میں نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! کیا کہوں؟ فرمایا: قُلْ هُوَ اللّٰهُ أَحَدٌ اور معوذتین (سورہ فلق اور سورہ ناس) صبح و شام تین تین بار پڑھو، یہ تمہیں ہر چیز سے کافی ہوں گی۔
