Arabic (Original)
حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمُعْتَمِرُ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي قَالَ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ : لَمَّا عُرِجَ بِنَبِيِّ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي الْجَنَّةِ - أَوْ كَمَا قَالَ - عُرِضَ لَهُ نَهْرٌ حَافَتَاهُ الْيَاقُوتُ الْمُجَيَّبُ أَوْ قَالَ الْمُجَوَّفُ، فَضَرَبَ الْمَلَكُ الَّذِي مَعَهُ يَدَهُ فَاسْتَخْرَجَ مِسْكًا فَقَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ صلى الله عليه وسلم لِلْمَلَكِ الَّذِي مَعَهُ : " مَا هَذَا " . قَالَ : هَذَا الْكَوْثَرُ الَّذِي أَعْطَاكَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ .
English Translation
Hadrat Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrates: When the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) was taken on the Mi'raj (Night Ascension) through Paradise — or as he said — a river appeared before him, its two banks lined with hollowed-out rubies. The angel who was with him struck his hand into it and extracted musk. Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) asked the angel who was with him: What is this? The angel replied: This is al-Kawthar that Allah Most High has granted you.
Urdu Translation
حضرت انس بن مالک رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ فرماتے ہیں: جب نبی اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو معراج کے موقع پر جنت میں لے جایا گیا — یا جیسا کہ آپ نے فرمایا — تو آپ کے سامنے ایک نہر آئی جس کے دونوں کناروں پر کھوکھلے یاقوت تھے۔ آپ کے ساتھ جو فرشتے تھے انہوں نے اپنا ہاتھ مارا تو مشک نکلی۔ محمد صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے اپنے ساتھ والے فرشتے سے پوچھا: یہ کیا ہے؟ فرشتے نے کہا: یہ کوثر ہے جو اللہ عزوجل نے آپ کو عطا فرمائی ہے۔
