حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدُ بْنُ مُسَرْهَدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمُعْتَمِرُ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مَنْصُورَ بْنَ الْمُعْتَمِرِ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حَبِيبٍ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيِّ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ قَالَ كُنَّا فِي جَنَازَةٍ فِيهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِبَقِيعِ الْغَرْقَدِ فَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَجَلَسَ وَمَعَهُ مِخْصَرَةٌ فَجَعَلَ يَنْكُتُ بِالْمِخْصَرَةِ فِي الأَرْضِ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَقَالَ " مَا مِنْكُمْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ مَا مِنْ نَفْسٍ مَنْفُوسَةٍ إِلاَّ قَدْ كَتَبَ اللَّهُ مَكَانَهَا مِنَ النَّارِ أَوْ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ إِلاَّ قَدْ كُتِبَتْ شَقِيَّةً أَوْ سَعِيدَةً " . قَالَ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ أَفَلاَ نَمْكُثُ عَلَى كِتَابِنَا وَنَدَعُ الْعَمَلَ فَمَنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَهْلِ السَّعَادَةِ لَيَكُونَنَّ إِلَى السَّعَادَةِ وَمَنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الشِّقْوَةِ لَيَكُونَنَّ إِلَى الشِّقْوَةِ قَالَ " اعْمَلُوا فَكُلٌّ مُيَسَّرٌ أَمَّا أَهْلُ السَّعَادَةِ فَيُيَسَّرُونَ لِلسَّعَادَةِ وَأَمَّا أَهْلُ الشِّقْوَةِ فَيُيَسَّرُونَ لِلشِّقْوَةِ " . ثُمَّ قَالَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ " { فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَى وَاتَّقَى * وَصَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْنَى * فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْيُسْرَى * وَأَمَّا مَنْ بَخِلَ وَاسْتَغْنَى * وَكَذَّبَ بِالْحُسْنَى * . فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْعُسْرَى } " .
English Translation
Hadrat 'Ali al-Murtada (may Allah ennoble his countenance) narrates: We were at a funeral in which the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) was present, at Baqi' al-Gharqad. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) came and sat down, and he had a staff with which he began poking the ground. Then he raised his blessed head and said: There is none among you — no soul that has been created — except that Allah has already written its place, whether in Paradise or in the Fire, and whether it has been written wretched or blessed. A man submitted: O the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) of Allah! Should we then rely upon our destiny and abandon deeds? For whoever is of the people of felicity shall be led to felicity, and whoever is of the people of wretchedness shall be led to wretchedness. He stated: Work, for each is facilitated — the people of felicity are facilitated toward felicity, and the people of wretchedness are facilitated toward wretchedness. Then the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) recited this verse: 'As for him who gives and fears Allah and believes in the best, We shall facilitate for him the path of ease. And as for him who is stingy and considers himself self-sufficient and denies the best, We shall facilitate for him the path of hardship.'
Urdu Translation
حضرت علی المرتضیٰ کرّم اللہ تعالیٰ وجہہ الکریم فرماتے ہیں: ہم ایک جنازے میں تھے جس میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم بھی تشریف رکھتے تھے، بقیع الغرقد میں۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم تشریف لائے اور بیٹھ گئے، آپ کے پاس ایک چھڑی تھی جس سے آپ زمین کریدنے لگے۔ پھر سرِ مبارک اٹھایا اور فرمایا: تم میں سے کوئی نہیں — کوئی جاندار نہیں — مگر اللہ نے اس کا ٹھکانہ لکھ دیا ہے، جنت میں یا جہنم میں، اسے بدبخت لکھا ہے یا سعادت مند۔ ایک شخص نے عرض کیا: یا نبی اللہ! کیا ہم اپنی تقدیر پر بھروسہ نہ کریں اور عمل چھوڑ دیں؟ جو سعادت والا ہوگا وہ سعادت کی طرف ہوگا اور جو بدبختی والا ہوگا وہ بدبختی کی طرف ہوگا۔ فرمایا: عمل کرو، ہر ایک کے لیے آسانی کی جاتی ہے — سعادت والوں کو سعادت کے لیے آسانی دی جاتی ہے اور بدبختی والوں کو بدبختی کے لیے آسانی دی جاتی ہے۔ پھر نبی اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے یہ آیت تلاوت فرمائی: «فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَى وَاتَّقَى وَصَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْنَى فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْيُسْرَى وَأَمَّا مَنْ بَخِلَ وَاسْتَغْنَى وَكَذَّبَ بِالْحُسْنَى فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْعُسْرَى»
