حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، وَمُسَدَّدٌ، - الْمَعْنَى - قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الأَخْنَسِ، عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ يُوسُفَ بْنِ مَاهَكَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " مَنِ اقْتَبَسَ عِلْمًا مِنَ النُّجُومِ اقْتَبَسَ شُعْبَةً مِنَ السِّحْرِ زَادَ مَا زَادَ " .
English Translation
Hadrat Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be well pleased with him) states: I heard a man reciting a verse in a manner different from the way the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) had recited it. I took him by the hand and brought him to the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: Both of you are reciting correctly. Shu'bah (upon him be mercy) says: I think he (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) also said: Do not dispute, for those before you were destroyed because of disputes.
Urdu Translation
حضرت عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ فرماتے ہیں: میں نے ایک شخص کو ایک آیت اس طرح پڑھتے سنا جو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی قراءت سے مختلف تھی۔ میں اس شخص کا ہاتھ پکڑ کر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی خدمت میں لایا۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: تم دونوں ٹھیک پڑھ رہے ہو۔ شعبہ رحمۃ اللہ علیہ کہتے ہیں: میرا خیال ہے آپ نے فرمایا: جھگڑا مت کرو، کیونکہ تم سے پہلے لوگ جھگڑے کی وجہ سے ہلاک ہوئے۔
