حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ عَمْرَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ كَانَ النَّاسُ مُهَّانَ أَنْفُسِهِمْ فَيَرُوحُونَ إِلَى الْجُمُعَةِ بِهَيْئَتِهِمْ فَقِيلَ لَهُمْ لَوِ اغْتَسَلْتُمْ .
English Translation
Umm al-Mu'minin Hadrat Aisha Siddiqah (may Allah be well pleased with her) narrates: 'The people (in Madinah) used to serve themselves (i.e., they had no servants). They would come to the Friday prayer in their (working) condition. So it was said to them: "If only you would bathe (it would be better)."'
Urdu Translation
حضرت اُمّ المؤمنین عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا فرماتی ہیں: لوگ (مدینہ میں) خود اپنے کام کرنے والے تھے (یعنی خادم نہ تھے)۔ وہ اسی حالت میں جمعہ کے لیے آتے تھے (جیسے کام سے فارغ ہوئے)۔ تو ان سے کہا گیا: اگر تم غسل کر لیتے (تو بہتر ہوتا)۔
