حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، قَالَ أُخْبِرْتُ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، - رضى الله عنها - قَالَتْ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَبْعَثُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ رَوَاحَةَ فَيَخْرُصُ النَّخْلَ حِينَ يَطِيبُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُؤْكَلَ مِنْهُ ثُمَّ يُخَيِّرُ يَهُودَ يَأْخُذُونَهُ بِذَلِكَ الْخَرْصِ أَوْ يَدْفَعُونَهُ إِلَيْهِمْ بِذَلِكَ الْخَرْصِ لِكَىْ تُحْصَى الزَّكَاةُ قَبْلَ أَنْ تُؤْكَلَ الثِّمَارُ وَتُفَرَّقَ .
English Translation
Umm al-Mu'minin Hadrat A'ishah Siddiqah (may Allah be well pleased with her) said: The Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) used to send Hadrat Abdullah ibn Rawahah (may Allah be well pleased with him) to estimate the date palms when they began to ripen, before they were eaten. Then the Jews would be given the choice: either take the dates at that estimated amount or hand them over at that estimated amount — so that the zakah could be calculated before the fruits were eaten and distributed.
Urdu Translation
حضرت اُمّ المؤمنین عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا فرماتی ہیں: نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم حضرت عبداللہ بن رواحہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کو بھیجا کرتے تھے جو کھجوروں کا اندازہ (خرص) لگاتے جب وہ پکنے لگتیں، کھائے جانے سے پہلے۔ پھر یہودیوں کو اختیار دیتے کہ اس اندازے پر کھجوریں لے لیں یا انہیں (مسلمانوں کو) اس اندازے پر دے دیں — تاکہ زکوٰۃ کا حساب پھلوں کے کھائے جانے اور بٹنے سے پہلے لگایا جا سکے۔
