حَدَّثَنَا النُّفَيْلِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَوْسِ بْنِ الْحَدَثَانِ، قَالَ ذَكَرَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ يَوْمًا الْفَىْءَ فَقَالَ مَا أَنَا بِأَحَقَّ، بِهَذَا الْفَىْءِ مِنْكُمْ وَمَا أَحَدٌ مِنَّا بِأَحَقَّ بِهِ مِنْ أَحَدٍ إِلاَّ أَنَّا عَلَى مَنَازِلِنَا مِنْ كِتَابِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَقَسْمِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَالرَّجُلُ وَقِدَمُهُ وَالرَّجُلُ وَبَلاَؤُهُ وَالرَّجُلُ وَعِيَالُهُ وَالرَّجُلُ وَحَاجَتُهُ .
English Translation
Hadrat Malik bin Aws bin al-Hadathan narrates that Hadrat ' Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be well pleased with him) one day mentioned the fay' (wealth gained without fighting) and said: "I am not more entitled to this fay' than you, nor is any one of us more entitled than another — except that we are ranked according to our positions from the Book of Allah Almighty and the distribution of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). So a man and his precedence (in Islam), a man and his service (in battle), a man and his dependents, and a man and his need (all these are considered in distribution)."
Urdu Translation
حضرت مالک بن اوس بن حدثان فرماتے ہیں کہ حضرت عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے ایک دن فَے کا ذکر کیا اور فرمایا: میں اس فَے کا تم سے زیادہ حقدار نہیں ہوں اور نہ ہم میں سے کوئی دوسرے سے زیادہ حقدار ہے، مگر ہم سب اپنے اپنے مراتب پر ہیں جو کتاب اللہ عزوجل اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی تقسیم سے مقرر ہیں۔ پس آدمی کا درجہ اور اس کی سبقت، آدمی اور اس کی آزمائش (خدمت)، آدمی اور اس کا اہل و عیال، اور آدمی اور اس کی حاجت (یعنی ان سب باتوں کو دیکھ کر تقسیم کی جائے گی)۔
