حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، وَمُجَاهِدٍ، وَمُسْلِمٍ الْبَطِينِ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " مَا مِنْ أَيَّامٍ الْعَمَلُ الصَّالِحُ فِيهَا أَحَبُّ إِلَى اللَّهِ مِنْ هَذِهِ الأَيَّامِ " . يَعْنِي أَيَّامَ الْعَشْرِ . قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَلاَ الْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ قَالَ " وَلاَ الْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ إِلاَّ رَجُلٌ خَرَجَ بِنَفْسِهِ وَمَالِهِ فَلَمْ يَرْجِعْ مِنْ ذَلِكَ بِشَىْءٍ " .
English Translation
It is narrated from Hadrat Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be well pleased with them both) that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: "There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these days" — meaning the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah. The Companions (may Allah be well pleased with them) submitted: O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)! Not even jihad in the path of Allah? He stated: "Not even jihad in the path of Allah, except a man who goes out with his life and his wealth and returns with nothing (i.e., attains martyrdom)."
Urdu Translation
حضرت عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: "کوئی ایسے دن نہیں جن میں نیک عمل اللہ تعالیٰ کو ان دنوں کے عمل سے زیادہ محبوب ہو" — یعنی ذوالحجہ کے دس دن۔ صحابہ کرام رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہم نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! کیا اللہ کی راہ میں جہاد بھی نہیں؟ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: "اللہ کی راہ میں جہاد بھی نہیں، مگر وہ شخص جو اپنی جان اور مال لے کر نکلے اور ان میں سے کچھ بھی واپس نہ لائے (یعنی شہادت پائے)۔"
