Arabic (Original)
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْوَرَكَانِيُّ، أَخْبَرَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ، - يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعْدٍ - عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، فِي خَبَرِ الْمُتَلاَعِنَيْنِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " أَبْصِرُوهَا فَإِنْ جَاءَتْ بِهِ أَدْعَجَ الْعَيْنَيْنِ عَظِيمَ الأَلْيَتَيْنِ فَلاَ أُرَاهُ إِلاَّ قَدْ صَدَقَ وَإِنْ جَاءَتْ بِهِ أُحَيْمِرَ كَأَنَّهُ وَحَرَةٌ فَلاَ أُرَاهُ إِلاَّ كَاذِبًا " . قَالَ فَجَاءَتْ بِهِ عَلَى النَّعْتِ الْمَكْرُوهِ .
English Translation
Hadrat Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be well pleased with him) reported in the tradition of the spouses who invoked mutual curses (li'an) that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: 'Observe this woman. If she gives birth to a child with very dark eyes and large buttocks, then I consider that he (the husband) has spoken the truth. But if she gives birth to a reddish child resembling a lizard (waharah), then I consider that he has lied.' He (Hadrat Sahl) said: She gave birth to a child bearing the undesirable description.
Urdu Translation
حضرت لعان والی حدیث میں حضرت سہل بن سعد رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: اس عورت کو دیکھتے رہو، اگر بچہ سیاہ آنکھوں والا اور بڑے سرین والا پیدا ہوا تو میں یہی سمجھتا ہوں کہ اس (شوہر) نے سچ کہا ہے، اور اگر سرخ رنگت والا گرگٹ کی مانند پیدا ہوا تو میں سمجھتا ہوں کہ وہ جھوٹا ہے۔ (حضرت سہل رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ فرماتے ہیں) چنانچہ وہ بچہ ناپسندیدہ صفت پر پیدا ہوا۔
