حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، فِي قِصَّةِ بَرِيرَةَ قَالَتْ كَانَ زَوْجُهَا عَبْدًا فَخَيَّرَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَاخْتَارَتْ نَفْسَهَا وَلَوْ كَانَ حُرًّا لَمْ يُخَيِّرْهَا .
English Translation
Umm al-Mu'minin Hadrat A'ishah al-Siddiqah (may Allah be well pleased with her) said regarding the case of Barirah: Her husband was a slave. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) gave her the choice, and she chose herself. Had he been a free man, he would not have given her the choice.
Urdu Translation
حضرت اُمّ المؤمنین عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا بریرہ کے واقعے میں فرماتی ہیں: اس کا شوہر غلام تھا۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے اسے اختیار دیا تو اس نے اپنے آپ کو اختیار کر لیا۔ اگر وہ آزاد ہوتا تو آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم اسے اختیار نہ دیتے۔
