حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَرْجِسَ، قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ وَالنَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يُصَلِّي الصُّبْحَ فَصَلَّى الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي الصَّلاَةِ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قَالَ " يَا فُلاَنُ أَيَّتُهُمَا صَلاَتُكَ الَّتِي صَلَّيْتَ وَحْدَكَ أَوِ الَّتِي صَلَّيْتَ مَعَنَا " .
English Translation
Hadrat Abdullah ibn Sarjis (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrates: 'A man came while the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) was leading the dawn prayer. He (first) prayed two rak'ahs (sunnah), then joined the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) in prayer. When he (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) finished, he said: "O so-and-so! Which of the two is your (actual) prayer — the one you prayed alone or the one you prayed with us?"'
Urdu Translation
حضرت عبداللہ بن سَرجِس (رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ) فرماتے ہیں: ایک شخص آیا جبکہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم صبح کی نماز پڑھا رہے تھے — اس نے (پہلے) دو رکعتیں (سنّتیں) پڑھیں — پھر نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی نماز میں شامل ہوا — جب آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سلام پھیر چکے تو ارشاد فرمایا: اے فلاں! تمہاری اصل نماز کون سی ہے — جو تم نے اکیلے پڑھی یا جو تم نے ہمارے ساتھ پڑھی؟
