Ali ibn Abd al-Aziz narrated to us, from Ahmad ibn Yunus, from Mandal, from Mughirah, from Ibrahim who said: Alqamah prayed the Asr prayer five (rak'ahs). When he gave the salutation, we said: 'You prayed five.' He said to a man from al-Nakha' called Ibrahim ibn Suwayd: 'Is that so, O one-eyed one?' He said: 'Yes.' So he prostrated two prostrations while standing, then said the tashahhud, then gave the salutation. Then he said: Abdullah told us: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) led us in the Asr prayer five (rak'ahs). We said: 'O Messenger of Allah, has something been added to the prayer?' He said: 'What is that?' We said: 'You prayed five.' He said to a man called Dhu al-Shimalayn: 'Is that so, O Dhu al-Yadayn?' He said: 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah.' So he prostrated two prostrations with us while sitting, then said the tashahhud, then gave the salutation. Then he said: 'O people, I am only a human like you. I forget as you forget. When I forget, remind me. And when one of you has doubt in his prayer and does not know whether he added or subtracted, let him consider what is most likely correct and complete it, then prostrate two prostrations. For if something had been added to your prayer, I would have told you.'
