A man from the companions of Abdullah had words with his wife. She said: 'Your food and your family\'s food comes only from the milk of my sheep.' He swore never to eat from its milk. Then a guest visited them, and she served him with the milk of her sheep. The man said: 'You know I do not eat it.' The woman said: 'By Allah, if you do not eat, I will not eat.' The guest said: 'By Allah, if you two do not eat, I will not eat.' They went to bed without supper. The matter reached Abdullah, and the man came to him. Abdullah asked: 'What happened between you and your family?' He said: 'It was not divorce, nor zihar, nor an oath of abstention.' Then he told the story. Abdullah said: 'I adjure you, when you return to your family, to make the first thing you do eating from the milk of that sheep. I also think it would be better for your conscience to make expiation for your oath.'
