Abdullah said: The devil encountered a man from the Companions of Muhammad, peace be upon him, and wrestled him. The Muslim overcame him and pinned him with his thumb. The devil said: 'Let me go and I will teach you a verse - no one of us hears it except that he flees.' So he released him, but the devil refused to teach him. He wrestled him again and the Muslim overcame him, and again the devil refused to teach. On the third time, the devil said: 'The verse in Surah al-Baqarah: "Allah, there is no god but He, the Ever-Living, the Self-Subsisting" - to its end.' It was said to Abdullah: 'O Abu Abd al-Rahman, who was that man?' He said: 'Who could it be other than Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him?'
