'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud said: "Everything that is coming is near. Indeed, what is far is that which is not coming. Allah does not hasten for the haste of anyone, nor does He yield to what people want. What Allah wills (happens), not what people will. Allah intends a matter and people intend a matter — what Allah wills shall be, even if people dislike it. No one can bring close what Allah has kept far, and no one can distance what Allah has brought close. Nothing happens except by the permission of Allah. The truest speech is the Book of Allah, the best guidance is the guidance of Muhammad, the worst of affairs are newly-invented ones, every innovation is a deviation, and every deviation is misguidance."
