Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:827 حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ وَحَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الرَّقِّيُّ قَالَا ثنا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنِ السَّرِيِّ بْنِ يَحْيَى أَبِي الْهَيْثَمِ وَكَانَ عَاقِلًا ثنا الْحَسَنُ عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ سَرِيعٍ وَكَانَ رَجُلًا شَاعِرًا وَكَانَ أَوَّلَ مَنْ قَصَّ فِي هَذَا الْمَسْجِدِ قَالَ أَفْضَى بَيْنَهُمُ الْقَتْلُ أَنْ قَتَلُوا الذُّرِّيَّةَ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «أَوَلَيْسَ خِيَارُكُمْ أَوْلَادَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ مَا مِنْ مَوْلُودٍ يُولَدُ إِلَّا عَلَى فِطْرَةِ الْإِسْلَامِ حَتَّى يُعْرِبَ فَأَبَوَاهُ يُهَوِّدَانِهِ أَوْ يُنَصِّرَانِهِ أَوْ يُمَجِّسَانِهِ»
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Al-Aswad ibn Sari' — who was a poet and the first to give sermons in this mosque — said: The killing went so far among them that they killed children. When this reached the Prophet (peace be upon him), he said: "Are not the best among you the children of polytheists? No child is born except upon the fitrah of Islam until he speaks, then his parents make him a Jew, a Christian, or a Magian."
