Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:8040 حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحِنَّائِيُّ ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ ثنا أَبِي ثنا أشعبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ عَنْ أَبِي غَالِبٍ قَالَ كُنْتُ بِدِمَشْقَ فَوْقَ ظَهْرِ بَيْتٍ فَمَرَّ بِي أَبُو أُمَامَةَ فَاتَّبَعْتُهُ فَإِذَا نَحْنُ برُءُوسِ الْخَوَارِجِ عَلَى دَرَجِ الْمَسْجِدِ مَنْصُوبَةً فَقَالَ «شَرُّ قَتْلَى تَحْتَ ظِلِّ السَّمَاءِ وَخَيْرُ قَتْلَى مَنْ قَتَلُوهُ» قُلْتُ أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَ هَذَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ؟ قَالَ «إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ» مِرَارًا ثُمَّ بَكَى فَقُلْتُ أَتَبْكِي وَقَدْ قُلْتَ مَا قُلْتَ؟ قَالَ إِنِّي أَرْحَمُهُمْ قَوْمٌ أَرَادُوا شَيْئًا فَلَمْ يُصِيبُوهُ أَمَا إِنَّكَ بِأَرْضٍ هُمْ بِهَا كَثِيرٌ فَأَعَاذَكَ اللهُ مِنْهُ
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Abu Ghalib said: Abu Umamah passed by me while I was on a rooftop, and I followed him. We came upon the heads of the Kharijites displayed on the steps of the mosque. He said: "The worst of those killed under the shadow of the sky, and the best of those killed are those whom they killed." I said: "Did you hear this from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)?" He said: "Yes, by the Lord of the Ka'bah! Yes, by the Lord of the Ka'bah!" - multiple times. Then he wept. I said: "You weep after what you have said?" He said: "I have mercy on them; they were a people who intended something but did not achieve it. Indeed, you are in a land where they are plentiful, may Allah protect you from them."
