Al-Ash'ath ibn Qays narrated that he came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) with the delegation of Kindah. The Prophet asked him: "Do you have any children?" He said: "No, except a child born to me just as I was leaving to come to you. I would have preferred a full meal instead of him." The Prophet said: "Do not say that, for indeed children are a cause of miserliness and cowardice, but they are the fragrance of Allah."
