Jabir ibn 'Abdullah and Ibn 'Abbas said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and his companions arrived on the morning of the fourth, having entered ihram for Hajj alone with nothing mixed in. When we arrived, he ordered us and we made it an 'umrah and to be permitted to our wives." Talk spread about this. 'Ata' said Jabir said: "Shall one of us go to Mina with his private part dripping with semen?" Jabir said: "News of this reached the Prophet (peace be upon him), so he stood up and gave a sermon: 'I have been informed that some people are saying such and such. By Allah, I am more righteous and more God-fearing than any of them. If I had foreseen what I came to know later, I would not have brought the sacrificial animal, and were it not that I have the sacrificial animal with me, I would have exited ihram.' Suraqah ibn Malik ibn Ju'shum stood and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, is this for us or forever?' He said: 'Rather, forever.' 'Ali ibn Abi Talib came and one of the two narrators says he said: 'I enter ihram with what the Prophet entered ihram with,' and the other said: 'I enter ihram with the Hajj of the Prophet (peace be upon him).' The Messenger of Allah ordered him to remain in his state of ihram and shared the sacrificial animal with him."
