Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:3632 حَدَّثَنَا الْمِقْدَامُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مَعْبَدٍ ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي أُنَيْسَةَ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ قَالَ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى خَبَّابٍ أَعُودُهُ وَقَدِ اكْتَوَى فِي بَطْنِهِ سَبْعًا فَقَالَ خَبَّابٌ «لَوْلَا أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَهَى أَنْ نَدْعُوَ بِالْمَوْتِ لَدَعَوْتُ بِهِ أَلَا إِنَّ أَصْحَابَنَا مَضَوْا وَلَمْ يُصِيبُوا مِنَ الدُّنْيَا شَيْئًا أَلَا وَإِنَّا قَدْ أَصَبْنَا بَعْدَهُمْ حَتَّى لَمْ نَجِدْ لَهُ مَوْضِعًا إِلَّا فِي التُّرَابِ إِنَّ الْمَرْءَ يُؤْجَرُ فِي نَفَقَتِهِ كُلِّهَا إِلَّا فِي شَيْءٍ يَجْعَلُهُ فِي هَذَا التُّرَابِ» قَالَ «وَهُوَ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَبْنِي حَائِطًا لَهُ»
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Qays ibn Abi Hazim said: 'I entered upon Khabbab to visit him, and he had been cauterized seven times on his stomach. Khabbab said: Were it not that the Prophet (peace be upon him) forbade us from wishing for death, I would have wished for it. Indeed our companions departed without taking anything from this world, and we have accumulated after them until we cannot find a place for it except in the ground. Indeed a person is rewarded for all his expenditure except for what he puts in this ground.' He said: 'He was building a wall that day.'
