Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:11450 حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ نَافِعٍ الطَّحَّانُ الْمِصْرِيُّ ثنا أَبُو يُوسُفَ الْجِيزِيُّ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ قَالَ كُنْتُ عِنْدَ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فَأَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا أَبَا عَبَّاسٍ مَا تَقُولُ فِيَّ؟ قَالَ وَمَا عَسَى أَنْ أَقُولَ فِيكَ؟ قَالَ إِنِّي عَامَلٌ بقلمٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «يُؤْتَى بِصَاحِبِ الْقَلَمِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فِي تابوتٍ مِنْ نَارٍ مُقْفَلٍ عَلَيْهِ بِأَقْفَالٍ مِنْ نَارٍ فَيَنْظُرُ قَلَمَهُ فِيمَ أَجْرَاهُ فَإِنْ كَانَ أَجْرَاهُ فِي طَاعَةِ اللهِ وَرِضْوَانِهِ فُكَّ عَنْهُ التَّابُوتُ وَإِنْ أَجْرَاهُ فِي مَعْصِيَةِ اللهِ هَوَى بِهِ التَّابُوتُ سَبْعِينَ خَرِيفًا حَتَّى بارئُ الْقَلَمِ ولائقُ الدَّوَاةِ»
الترجمة الإنجليزية
I was with Ibn Abbas and a man came to him and said: 'O Abu Abbas, what do you say about me?' He said: 'And what would I say about you?' He said: 'I am a scribe (government employee).' He said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: The one who writes with a pen will be brought on the Day of Resurrection in a coffin of fire, locked with locks of fire. Then his pen will be examined to see for what purpose he used it. If he used it in obedience to Allah and His pleasure, the coffin will be opened. But if he used it in disobedience to Allah, the coffin will plunge with him for seventy autumns (years) — including the maker of the pen and the mixer of the ink.'
